How we make them
From idea to finished stretcher
We begin with a conversation. Sometimes it's a photograph, sometimes a colour study, and sometimes an exploration with generative models that suggest new directions. We curate each image, refine composition and tone, then move to print. We use archival pigment inks on heavyweight canvas for density and longevity. After printing, every canvas is hand-stretched on premium stretcher bars, corners finished with care, and edges inspected for an even wrap. The final touch is a protective UV varnish that reduces glare and preserves chroma.
Our collaboration
A practice of care
Working together is not just efficient — it is how the work gets its soul. Sophie brings an eye for composition and finishing; Filipe brings technical craft and a love of process. We test papers, we debate prints over tea, and we sign and number each edition together. Our partnership shapes the choices we make: which images belong on canvas, which colours sing in natural light, and what scale will best express the work.
Why AI
Technology as collaborator
Over time we introduced AI tools into our practice. Rather than replacing intuition, these tools expanded it. AI helps us explore variations, push palettes, or find unexpected forms. We always edit and curate the output; the human hand remains central in every decision.
Print quality
Materials and care
We print on heavyweight, acid-free canvas with archival pigment inks. Stretchers are kiln-dried, joined and glued for longevity. Canvases are inspected, edges hand-wrapped or finished with a subtle white or black profile, depending on the piece. Each print ships with simple hanging instructions and a certificate of edition.
Living in Portugal
A quieter pace
After ten years in the UK we sought light and a slower rhythm. Portugal gave us that: mornings with long shadows, markets stacked with colour, and a studio where we can test prints in real daylight. The move allowed us to focus on small editions and better materials, and to offer a more deliberate way of making.
We still ship across the UK and Europe, but the work now begins and ends in a place that feels like home.
Sustainability & shipping
Thoughtful packaging
We use recycled and recyclable packaging materials and partner with couriers who handle art with care. Canvases are wrapped in protective tissue, boxed with stabilising supports, and insured for transit. We aim to reduce waste and extend the life of each piece through quality and provenance.
